Austrian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) Conference 2010 and Asia Pacific Federation of Project Management (APFPM) Dr. Francis Chan, President of the HKIPM, was invited as key note speaker at the AIPM 2010 Conference held on 10 -13 October 2010 at Darwin Convention Centre, Darwin, Australia. There were over 600 international project managers and professionals participated. During the period of conference, the 2nd meeting of Asia Pacific Federation of Project Management (www.apfpm.org) was held since its launch on April 2010 in Hong Kong. Representatives of member countries actively discussed various matters with positive conclusion, which includes: 1. Agreeing a Governance Charter; 2. Strategies on Asia Pacific alliances; 3. Membership 'who" (countries) should be targeted and how; 4. Website development; 5. Standards development; and 6. Establishing an Achievement Awards in 2011. As the one of key members of the Federation, Dr. Francis Chan, was invited to join 3 committees namely - Governance development, Membership and Achievement Awards. At the meeting, it was unanimously agreed that the MOU among 7 member countries will be signed on December 2010. The Achievement Awards will be launched in 2011 and the award presentation will be tentatively held in Hong Kong in 2012.
The Federation not only provided the opportunity for Project Professionals to learn and to share their experience among membership countries but also established a path for HKIPM to step out Hong Kong and make international recognition.
